THE MYTHICAL RUM BORN OF DARK TALES & WANDERING SPIRITS FROM THE STORM-BATTERED SHORES OF CEFAN CIDAN, WITH ENCHANTING SMOOTHNESS & MYSTERIOUS HIDDEN FLAVOURS,
CAPTURING THE TRUE HEART OF THE SOUL

From Dark Tides to Bold Spirits
introducing our exceptionally smooth devilish red velvet rum—an extraordinary new creation infused with red wine. inspired directly by the dark folklore and documented history of Cefn Sidan, Wales’s most infamous coastline, this spirit is born from tales of piracy, shipwrecks, and stolen treasure.
The Legend of Cefn Sidan
Cefn Sidan, meaning silky ridge, stretches across seven miles of shifting, treacherous sands in carmarthen bay. For centuries, it earned a reputation as a graveyard for ships.
local lore tells of the gŵyr y bwyelli bach, or the men of the little hatchets, a ruthless syndicate of wreckers who prowled the dunes under cover of darkness. As the legend goes, they tied lanterns to the horns of cattle, walking them slowly across the high dunes. from out at sea, ship captains caught in storm-tossed waters mistook the swaying, rhythmic lights for fellow vessels riding safely at anchor in a harbour.
tricked into seeking refuge, the ships sailed directly onto the hidden sandbars. the wreckers would then swarm the doomed vessels armed with claw hammers and hatchets, putting any surviving crew to the sword and claiming the valuable cargo for themselves.
Bound by Real History
beyond the dark tales of the hatchet men, Cefn Sidan’s real history is steeped in plundered spirits and fateful voyages.
in 1818, the French ship la providence, laden with red wine, brandy, and coffee, ran aground on the sands. over two thousand locals swarmed the beach, breaking open the wooden casks and plundering the contents right on the sand.
a decade later in 1828, the brig la jeune emma met her demise on Cefn Sidan while carrying a rich cargo of West indian rum and sugar. among the casualties of that tragedy was twelve-year-old adelinecoquelin, the niece of empress josephine de beauharnais, wife of napoleon bonaparte.
A Spirit Born from the Storm
